Deities For Anahata Chakra
The Chakra system symbolizes the vital energy of the physical body, emotions, intellect, and spirit. Positive attributes associated with the Chakras, such as love, intuition, and bravery, are also associated with Hindu deities. By studying about the many deities connected with the Chakras (swirling energy vortexes) you may learn how to foster and sharp their beneficial qualities in your life, bringing you one step closer to the divine.
These spinning energy centers have been compared to the pole that must be climbed. It’s a slippery pole. As a result, the gods’ assisting hand and their resonating energies with these chakras aid in the ascension of the devotee. Since ancient periods in human history, total submission to the Gods has been raising their connected chakras.
Lotus flowers represent these chakras with different pretty patterns. This flower thrives in lakes and pools, taking root under the surface in the slimy muck where no light can enter. Its stem shoots upward toward the light, breaking the surface into fresh air and sunlight. The sun’s energy then nourishes the bud and leaves until the beautiful lotus flower blooms. Anahata is the name given to the fourth chakra. Awareness grows from the lower chakras as ascending kundalini energy and travels through the waters of the intellect, becoming more refined as it evolves, until it finally bursts into the light of the superconscious mind, where it spiritually blossoms into the 1,008-petaled lotus chakra at the top of the head.
The lotus flower begins in the dirt, flows through the water, and ultimately blooms on the surface. There are many unique phases that it goes through while in the mud: The dirt symbolizes the instinctual mind, the water represents the intellectual mind, and the surface represents the superconscious mind, which blossoms to become one with God.
Therefore, connecting with the deity associated with each chakra makes to open and balance this chakra as per bhakti or resonance between both energies. The more the connection is established the deeper the healing of the corresponding energy center. This happens because these energies entwined in each chakra are the same energies brought by each deity connected to them. The resonating gods of Anahata chakra are Lord Vishnu, Lord Vayu, Lord Pashupatinath Shiva and goddess Kushmanda. By sharping our connection with them our whirling energy vortexes known as our chakras leads us to a spiraling union not only with these deities but ultimately also with the supreme and only one Brahman which represents all forms of god.
To contact your Chakra god, focus on the deity’s picture and attempt to see it in your thoughts. This is best accomplished by gradually building up the picture, and adding details as you focus on it. Here is a simple meditation to assist you
in developing a connection with your god or goddess:
- To begin, imagine the deity or goddess as a dignified sitting figure.
- Examine the number of arms and faces that they have attributed.
- Begin to visualize the skin color and jewelry and other details appearing on the god’s portrayal gradually.
- Consider the garments that the god is wearing.
- See whether they have any type of things in their hands since they generally imply god attributes to meditate upon too.
- Allow your thoughts to concentrate on it and observe what comes to you.
Each Chakra is filled with the male god’s vitality as well as the energy of their female pair or consort, a power known as Shakti.
Lord Vishnu which in Sanskrit means ‘the pervader’, also known as Hari or called Narayana, is revered as the preserver and protector of the Universe, incarnating on Earth to restore equilibrium and defeat evil and destructive forces. There are several portrayals of Vishnu that are both benevolent and frightening. In benign forms, he is shown as an omniscient sleeping on the coils of the snake Adishesha (who symbolizes time) while floating in the primordial ocean of milk known as Kshira Sagara with consort Lakshmi. Vishnu descends in the form of an avatar (incarnation) whenever the world is threatened by evil, chaos, and destructive forces to restore cosmic order and preserve Dharma. He is seen as the god of Preservation, Karma and restoration of Moksha. He is the Supreme Preserver.
Anahata chakra connects the lower to the upper chakras, which means that what we understand as material and spiritual reality and interdependent. Without the material reality, spiritual reality cannot be discovered; and without spiritual reality, the material reality has no purpose. This idea of complementary realities are expressed in Hindu mythology as a human couple. The interdependence of both material and spiritual reality is best expressed through the interdependence of woman and man. This is the reason why temple walls are adorned with intimate conjugal images. And, this is why Lord Vishnu is connected to Anahata chakra: He sustains the world, but He cannot perform his role without Lakshmi, his consort, which is wealth personified. Likewise, She has no role without him neither. Thus, He gives her purpose and She gives him wherewithal. Vishnu and Lakshmi validate each other. One cannot exist without the other.
Spiritual growth is the ability to subdue all the emotions triggered by the impermanence of material things so that one has the wisdom to appreciate and enjoy all things material without getting needy or clingy to them. The word Maya has its roots in ‘Ma’ which means ‘to measure’. Maya is a measuring scale. Like Prakriti, Maya is an aspect of material reality. But while Prakriti is physical, Maya is mental. Prakriti existed before Brahma, Maya cames after. Lakshmi is the most tangible form of Maya. Vishnu has a threefold relationship with Maya. As Narayana, he is ignorant of Maya. As Vishnu he is aware of Maya but chooses not to be under her spell; and as Vishnu’s avatars, like Ram and Krishna, he willingly submits to Maya, engages with subjective realities, but is never dependent on her. Marriage is a metaphysical metaphor for engagement with material reality. Only through marriage can Brahma and his sons access Ram and Krishna, and through them discover Vishnu, and ultimately Narayana. Marriage is thus a manifestation of the material and spiritual together.
As a result, Lord Vishnu represents the energetic manifestation that takes shape in Anahata chakra when this energy center is balanced. This is a manifestation of the highest order, devoid of attachments, expectations, or mistrust. When this is the case, we are compassionate and express love not only in its material form, but also spiritually. We experience consciousness, and through union with others, we express unconditional love and light while manifesting our deepest desires, which reflect who we truly are and what we want in a pleased world around.
Lord Vayu is one of the primary Devas who has a dichotomy of two qualities. He is powerful and capable of sweeping huge mountain ranges away with enormous gusts of wind, yet he is also the soothing air that passes through our bodies, and hence he is known as “cosmic life-breath.” He is known as the universal “spirit.” His connection to Anahata, the chakra of love and relationships, stems from the universality of the Air element, which Lord Vayu represents. The element of air makes you a dreamer, a deep thinker, and a sensational lover. Like air, you never settle for anything in life, and you are constantly changing to become perfect and find the perfect person for you. When you find the person who can finally calm your storms, you’re extremely loyal, giving, and loving, but you are willing to sail against the wind for the one you love. You will breathe new life into your partner’s world, much like Air inspired by Lord Vayu.
Lord Pashupatinath Shiva also known as Pashupati, is the Divine aspect of Shiva who is worshiped as the Lord of All Beings, dissolving bad karma that causes pain in life and bestowing prosperity and pleasure. Because of their karmic bondage in this and prior lifetimes, all living creatures are deemed pashus or jivas by the sacred scriptures. As Lord Pashupati, Shiva eliminates pasas such as wants, bad character qualities, addictions, and worldly attachments; hence it liberates mankind from the prison of ignorance and illusion, which obstructs redemption. Only this way can the balance of the Anahata chakra be maintained or restored.
Goddess Kushmanda is the very energy of Love, at the core of Anahata chakra. According to the tradition, while the world was being formed, it was completely dark everywhere. Goddess Kushmanda smiled, and with her smile, the whole cosmos was lighted, and the World was born. This means that, although we are in the process of creation on the outside, the energy of Love is what will keep us linked to the Light inside. She is the Divine Love that dispels all darkness and brightens the whole of our existence. The only energy that gives us strength, bravery, inspiration, and passion to keep going is the energy of Love. When this energy is freed the Heart chakra energies flow in a balanced manner.
As we have seen there are several deities connected with our Anahata chakra in very deep association and resonance with the qualities of our Heart chakra. Total surrender to these deities is one of the ways to assist us in enhancing the function of our Anahata (Heart) Chakra, which is essential for our relationships and inner peace. It also helps us to bring to balance an imbalanced Anahata. The qualities and attributes of the above deities are the same as the ones of our Anahata chakra, always resonating at the same vibrational frequency.
Healing our Heart chakra with the helping hands of the gods may actually be done in plentiful ways. Starting from meditation to contemplation of the deity’s pictures, through their mantras, yantras and wearing Rudraksha beads ruled by them are all proven effective ways to balance Anahata so that it works productively for you.
